Open meeting to discuss creation of food bank in Wisbech

RECENT editions of your paper have demonstrated the generosity of your readers in donating toys, food and other goods for the needy this Christmas season.
In addition the Rosmini Centre, the Salvation Army and the Baptist church provided soup and food parcels whilst the Ferry Project continues to do excellent work with the homeless.
A small group of us from Churches Together are looking into supplementing these by setting up a food bank in Wisbech to provide short-term crisis support to families and individuals who are temporarily short of food.
We will be holding an open public meeting at 7pm on January 16 at the Salvation Army headquarters in John Thompson Road to discuss setting up a food bank.
We would encourage as many people as possible to join us including councillors, service providers, interested individuals, potential volunteers and anyone who can provide us with food, office or warehouse accommodation.
We would also welcome interest from villages where the need may be different to that in the town.
Although launched as a Churches Together initiative, we want it to spread to include all sections of the community regardless of their religious affiliation.
