The Gables Care Home in Chatteris has started a new initiative to celebrate their centenarian residents.
The initiative is new to the care home though they recognise the importance of a milestone such as turning 100 years old and they wish for everyone to celebrate it.
The parent group, Black Swan, has commissioned some awards along with a telegram to give their centenarians something to commemorate the occasion.
As the initiative is new to the group, The Gables celebrated with two of their existing centenarians.
101-year-old resident Kath, a former ATS Chef who once made a cup of tea for the Queen, and 100-year-old newcomer Elsie.
Kath and Elsie were presented with their overdue awards by the Home Manager at a Special Awards Presentation which was attended by family, friends and staff.
The event also declared them both as the newest official members of The Black Swan Century Club.
