The first artist's impression of what a proposed reservoir in the Fens will look like has been released by Anglian Water and Cambridge Water.

The reservoir would sit near Chatteris, Doddington and March.

The ammonite shape reservoir features public pathways and different landscape forms.

A spokesperson for Anglian Water said that the reservoir "could become an exciting new visitor destination, creating jobs, and wider economic, environmental, leisure and health benefits for the local community."

They added that the reservoir may have the potential to host water sports.

Anglian Water and Cambridge Water have announced plans for a second phase of public consultation on the reservoir proposals, which will take place from 30 May to 25 July.

Over the eight week consultation period, the water companies will be asking for feedback on the proposed design and the associated water infrastructure required to fill the reservoir, treat the water, and transport it to homes and businesses.

The companies have said that there is a "pressing need" for the reservoir, a Met Office projections show that the East of England is set to become hotter and drier in summer and wetter in winter.
