The five-kilometre race was started by the family of Angela Notley, a receptionist at the preparatory school, Magdalene House, who passed away in December, and the competitors and spectators were able to enjoy a barbecue and entertainment from the school’s steel band.

Teacher Mr Geoff Howes, who organized the event with charities coordinator Miss Jan Wildman, said: “We had set a target of 200 competitors and we were delighted with the success of the event and the money raised.

“The band played all through the evening to give the race a fantastic atmosphere.”
