A YOUNG curators forum run by a Fenland arts organisation has been nominated for a Cambridgeshire youth award.
Atelier East’s Young Curators Forum are in the running for a Young People of the Year award after members Abbie Loosemore and Brandon Mattless wrote a 500-word statement about their projects.
Abbie said: “We feel that our project is important to the community because other young people should have the chance to learn about the historic towns which we live in before the heritage is lost.
“The forum hopes to stop this loss of heritage by putting together an exhibition showing the ways in which Fenland life has changed in the last century. We want to bring people together and help them to enjoy learning and feel proud of where they live.”
Karen Harvey, of Atelier East, said: “A lot of the time the young people’s hard work gets overlooked, so this is a great opportunity for them to share some of their good work and let people know how much they are trying to do for other people’s benefit.”
The YOPEY awards evening is in October.
