A businessman is once again giving away £10,000 to local charities this year.

Carl Lamb, managing director of financial consultants Almary Green Investments, started the giveaway to mark 10 years in business in 2011 and has done it every year since.

In that time more than 60 charities, including the Fenland and West Norfolk Aircraft Preservation Society and Cambridge and Ely Contact Centres, have received donations ranging from £100 and £2,000.

Mr Lamb said: “Almary Green has done extremely well again this year, with a record turnover. We continue to go from strength to strength year on year.

“Without the support of local people and local businesses Almary Green would not be in the position we are in today.

“I think it is right to spread some of that good fortune around to help make a difference in the lives of people who have been less fortunate.”

Charities are being urged to apply for a share of the £10,000 pot, with previous successful applicants invited to apply again.

Mr Lamb said: “There are hundreds of good causes out there and we would love to widen the net further than ever this year.

“Almary Green is looking to support specific projects or help with the purchase of something that makes a difference to the lives of those in need.

“We will consider nominations in support of causes that benefit other people by enriching a local community’s quality of life, help disadvantaged people achieve their potential, improve a voluntary group’s facilities or mark a significant event or milestone in a charitable organisation’s development,”

Nomination forms are available from Almary Green’s website at www.almarygreen.com/awards. The closing date for receipt of nominations is June 30.

The shortlist will be drawn up from information provided on the form so it is vital to include everything the selectors need to know.
