A church will find out next week if a grant application to help it finance major improvement works has been successful.
Emmanuel Church, Parson Drove, has asked Fenland District Council for £21,250 towards buying removable stackable pews and installing a sound reinforcement system, hearing aid loop, conference space and cinema system.
FDC’s Cabinet, who meet on Thursday, will also consider Doddington Benwick Road Recreation Committee’s £18,000 grant application to build a multi-games area on Benwick Road to promote sport in the village.
Emmanuel Church underwent a major renovation last year - a toilet and central heating was installed.
The floors, which had extensive dry rot, were replaced and insulated and repairs were carried out to the church windows.
Roger Goy, of Emmanuel Church Council, said: “The aim of all these works is to conserve and improve the building for its use for weddings, christenings and funerals, and to enable the use of the building for a wide range of community activities and events.”
Under the Rural Capital Grants scheme, 13 applications have been approved totalling £532,000 and a further £318,000 is available for future projects.
