Police in East Cambs hope they’ve seen the last of winter crashes after posting a photo of a badly damaged car.

“It is the last of our cautionary tales from a week of terrible driving conditions,” said a police spokesman.

The collision happened on Friday at around 9pm.

“This Infinity Q50 luxury saloon was involved in a collision with a far less desirable DAF model 0 truck,” said the spokesman.

“As you can see, extensive front end damage - but thankfully everyone involved walked away unharmed.”

Special Constable Elliot Wilding-Glendye attributed the incident to the dreadful conditions.

Sergeant Phil Priestley said: “Thankfully the conditions on the road are much improved since the weekend with the majority of snow and ice melting away.

“We’re grateful to everyone for the patience and care they took on the roads during this period.

“There’s a temptation for people not to take as much care now the roads seem ‘back to normal’ - but we remind everyone that our rural roads are still a very challenging driving environment.

“Please continue to take care.”
