Fake water board employee in Chatteris in two distraction burglaries


Home owners are being warned to be on their guard against a man who pretends to check the water at people’s properties then raids the rooms to steal goods.

A spokesman for Cambridgeshire Police said: “I wanted to make you aware of two distraction burglaries that have occurred on Thursday 20 during the day in which the suspect on both occasions has stated he is there to check the water.

“These offences have occurred in the location of Horsegate Gardens and Wimpole Street in Chatteris.

“These crimes are being investigated. If you have any information please contact 101 or via Crimestoppers anonymously.

“If you get a person from a company knocking at your door, the advice is to ask for identification, any suspicious activity please report via 999 in an emergency or if you believe a crime is in progress, 101 in a non-emergency situation.”
