A COUNTY Council scheme which assists people with learning disabilities has been given top marks by government inspectors.

The Adult Placement Scheme, which supports 38 carers who provide permanent placements, respite care and outreach support to 50 people with a range of learning difficulties in Fenland and East Cambridgeshire, was praised following a routine inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

The CQC inspection team, who spoke to carers and staff involved with the scheme. said: “We found the scheme to be well managed and organised. Good systems were in place for record keeping and quality monitoring.

“Care records and the training offered enabled carers to support people well.”

Cambridgeshire County Council Cabinet Member for Adult Services, Councillor Martin Curtis, who represents Whittlesey North, was pleased with the inspection’s findings.

He said: “The very positive outcome of this inspection is a tribute to all the staff involved with the Adult Placement Scheme and I am delighted that service users and carers made such positive comments about the support and services they receive.”
