FIVE Fenland adrenaline junkies have discovered an alternative method for fund-raising on Remembrance Day... plummeting 10,000ft from a plane.

Kim Peachey, from March, managed to persuade her father Mark Peachey and friends Matthew Clark, Matthew Warden and Ashley Anderson to join her for the charity skydive.

She wanted to raise money for Help for Heroes and had originally planned the nerve-jangling challenge for September 11 last year.

High winds meant that first attempt, and several more, were cancelled - but the five daredevils eventually completed the feat at North London Parachute Centre, in Wimblington, on Sunday.

Kim, 25, said: “It finally took place and what a perfect and very apt day it was. The sun was shining and the skies were clear.

“It was a special day that was meant to be and one we will never forget.”

The skydivers raised more than £1,500 for Help for Heroes with Sunday’s effort.

“I was petrified when I first got into the plane,” said Kim.

“But in the end it was probably the second best experience of my life - after giving birth. In fact, giving birth was a breeze compared to that.”

Kim thanked her fellow fund-raisers and the parachute centre staff for a memorable day.

And will she opt for a slightly calmer Remembrance Day next year?

“I want to do it again for the Royal British Legion,” she said. “I might even take a course so I can parachute on my own.”
