WMS Recruitment won the Medium Business of the Year award for its strong contribution to the Fenland economy and for its future plans.
WMS Recruitment is a temporary labour provider supplying up to 900 workers to the agricultural and horticultural industry. It operates from Friday Bridge International Camp, a former prisoner of war camp.
Specialising in cropping, packing and food processing, this includes the supply of tractor drivers, forklift drivers and supervisors to companies supplying the multinationals.
The judges said: “Each business in their own way confirmed to us that Business in Fenland is alive and in profitable health.
“It was so hard to differentiate between then with their scores being really close.
“In the end we had to have a winner and they were chosen for not only for their present contribution to the local economy but for their future plans and for the positive effect that the management have on their staff morale and day to day work/life balance.
“Capping if all were the various ideas to improve the ‘greenness’ of the whole enterprise.”
