Delamore Garden Plants offered a green fingered helping hand to a Children In Need Special edition of DIY SOS, to help rebuild a centre for Peterborough-based charity, Little Miracles.
The charity gives support to families who are struggling with difficulties ranging from babies born prematurely or with disabilities to mums suffering post natal depression.
They give advice on grant applications, emotional and bereavement support and offer courses to improve the confidence of learners such as anxiety and stress management.
BBC TV star Nick Knowles, and the producers of DIY SOS have been calling local tradesmen and companies within the Fens for help and support to rebuild the Spinney Centre.
Chris Beardshaw, a leading British landscaper and Chelsea gold medalist has been charged with designing an award-winning garden for the new Spinney Centre, including themed beds and borders to help inspire the learners.
Clare Smith, outlet manager of the Wisbech St Mary firm, said: “To help the DIY SOS team in their ambitions, we are delighted to have been able to donate over £1000 worth of plants to the cause.
“Plants donated include Choisya, Herbs, Hibiscus trees, Agapanthus, Geranium Rozanne, Cordylines plus much, much more.
“I am delighted that we’ve been able to support this amazing project, and I really hope the plants we’ve donated will help inspire the children who will use the new centre, through exploring sensory features of the garden including sight, sound and smell.
“I know the plants we’ve donated have all been specifically chosen for their sensory elements by Chris Beardshaw and the landscapers of the show”.
Little Miracles is a parent led support group and charity for families with children that have additional needs, disabilities and life limiting conditions based in Peterborough.
They also offer practical and emotional support for families.
They run daily sessions at their centre at 15-17 Skaters Way, Werrington, Peterborough where the whole family is welcome to chat, play, socialise and engage in meaningful activities chosen by the families.
