A Fenland mother-of-four has been featured in a fitness magazine after shedding more than three stone in seven months.
Claire Upton, 37, of Wisbech, appears in this month’s issue of Rosemary Conley Diet & Fitness magazine.
Mrs Upton, who follows the Rosemary Conley diet and exercise plan, used to weigh 13st 5lb and wear a dress size 18 but now weighs just 10st 3lb and wears a dress size 10.
When Mrs Upton first weighed in on the family’s Wii Fit board, she was horrified to see her virtual character on screen inflated to signal that she was overweight.
She decided to join the gym but went home in tears after her first session.
She said: “It was the first time in years she had seen herself in a mirror. I was mortified.
“I tried to position myself behind other people but I was so big my curves still poked out.”
But Mrs Upton persevered and the results have been impressive.
Inspired by her physical transformation, she has released her first novel and completed a degree.
She said: “This is something I never would have had the confidence to do before I lost weight.
“The thought of my graduation ceremony later this year has kept me at my target weight.
“I have also trained as a volunteer for a charity, which involves giving presentations and workshops to children, something I would never have contemplated before.”
