Firefighters rescued horse from river in Sutton Gault

Firefighters from Ely, Sutton and Chatteris were called to help rescue a horse from a river in Sutton Gault.

A rescue vehicle from Huntingdon was also called to the scene, near The Causeway, at about 4.30pm, on Sunday.

A skewbald horse was stuck in a water drain. A vet was called to sedate the animal and the fire service deployed an in-water team to rescue it by 6.22pm.

Crews returned to their stations by 7.15pm.
