Five people were taken to hospital last night after a head-on collision near Wisbech.

The collision happened at about 6pm in High Road, Wisbech St Mary.

It involved a silver Vauxhall Corsa and a red Fiat 500.

A man who was driving the Corsa and a 14-year-old girl who was a passenger in the car received serious but not life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Fiat, who had to be freed by the fire service, and two other people who were travelling in the Corsa were not seriously hurt but all received treatment at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King’s Lynn.

Anyone who saw the collision, or either of the vehicles just prior, should contact PC Matt Smart on 101.

Among emergency services at attend was Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Jon Birks and Paramedic Steve Chambers).

A Magpas spokesman said: “The team assessed a man (in his 30’s) who suffered leg injuries. They administered enhanced pain relief and antibiotics, before the patient was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King’s Lynn, in a land ambulance.

“The Helimedix also worked alongside fire and rescue crews to safely remove two teenage girls who were trapped inside one of the vehicles.

“The Magpas team assessed both patients, who fortunately suffered minor injuries, before they too were taken to King’s Lynn Hospital in a stable condition. Two other patients were attended by EEAST ambulance crews, but had left the scene of the collision by the time the Helimedix arrived.”
