Service Master, which until five months ago ran a domestic and commercial carpet and upholstery cleaning service, could be turned into properties if permission is given for the Bridge Street scheme.

An application has been submitted by City Dial Retirement Benefit Trust Scheme to build a mix of terrace and semi detached homes with parking bays.

The scheme is at 54 Bridge Street which is close to new three storey apartments in Beaufort Drive, Sextant House and Compass House and opposite a new development of homes.

A report due to go before planners says the land is currently partly occupied by a series of brick and timber buildings that formed the domestic and commercial carpet and upholstery cleaning business.

The application states that: “The site has functioned as a commercial business for a considerable length of time and therefore there will be an acceptable level of traffic trade off against the established use.”
