WONDERHORSE Frankel may have been retired but his legacy lives on at the College of West Anglia... in the form of a horse-riding simulator.
Staff named one of their simulators after Henry Cecil’s unbeaten star of the stables and now they are planning to use it to raise money for Children in Need.
The Frankel simulator will be used alongside a second one - named Milton - as college staff attempt to ride them non-stop for 24 hours.
The challenge will begin at the college’s equestrian centre at Milton, on November 15.
Staff will ride the simulators in half-hour shifts, pledging to raise £30 per stint. They hope to raise at least £1,440 for Children in Need.
Alison Barber, campus director, will set the example with five half-hour rides, including the midnight slot.
Staff estimate that, in 24 hours, the real Frankel could have travelled more than 1,000 miles.
