Thirty one students and four teachers from Crowmell Community College enjoyed their annual ski trip to Hochfugen in Austria.

The trip involved five hours of intensive ski lessons every day.

Ski trip organiser Andrew Kennedy said: “All the students showed amazing determination and dedication and they made considerable progress on the slopes, with even the elite group of skiers tackling the most challenging black runs by the end of the week.

“However it was not all skiing and the party - the pupils also enjoyed visiting some thermal baths, traditional skittle ally, pizza night and finished the holiday with an après ski disco at the end of the week.

“Teachers were so proud of the students and they represented the college in an exemplary way at all times and look forward to hopefully repeating the trip next year too,” said Mr Kennedy.

Towards the end of the week each of the groups took part in their very own professional ski race with electronic start and slalom gates.

Will Grant won the elite skiers race, Lauren Stevenson was winner of the intermediate group and Paige Furnell came first in the beginners group.

“All skiers completed the course in record time and everyone received a medal and certificate for participating which were greatly treasured by the students,” he said.
