The Friends of Wisbech Grammar School’s second ‘Family spring extravaganza’, which was held in memory of the Magdalene House receptionist, Mrs Angela Notley, attracted more than 300 people to the day-long sale.

Thirty pupils and 20 parents and members of staff lent a hand, and the 40 stalls ranged from paintings by former Wisbech Grammar School pupil and acclaimed artist Louise Stebbing to jewellery, hand-sewn bags and acupuncture.

Helpers transformed the school’s dining hall into a spring cafe with home-made bunting, and visitors tucked into home cooked lunches of quiche, jacket potato and salad, together with five kinds of cakes, scones and sausage butties.

Charities coordinator Miss Jan Wildman said: “This has become an established part of the spring scene in Wisbech and we look forward to welcoming even more visitors next year.”
