YOUNGSTERS who attend jamming sessions at the Queen Mary Centre in Wisbech took to the stage on Saturday afternoon to perform to visitors keen to hear what they have been creating.
“In fact the bands and solo singers were so inspirational, that some young people who came to watch got up on stage to join them,” said organiser and lead youth worker Amber Crawshaw.
“We hope this event will encourage other youngsters to get involved with music, and come along to our weekly jamming sessions. The performance was a great success, with friends and family enjoying the music and a barbecue organised by staff from Community House.”
The jamming sessions, for youngsters aged from 10 to 19, take place at the Queen Mary Centre every Tuesday, from 5.30pm to 7pm. The first session is free, and subsequent sessions cost 50p.
Amber added: “Youngsters are welcome to bring along their own instruments, but we have guitars, drums, keyboards and a PA system. We have a volunteer drum teacher, and I help teach guitar.”
