Cambridgeshire fire crews have stopped work for two hours as part of a series of 16 recently announced strikes over pay and pensions.
“Today’s strike by FBU members has now started. It runs until 2pm - be safer, be slower, be vigilant” a Cambs fire service spokesman said at noon.
The strike comes in the aftermath of a massively busy day for the service as it dealt with 999 calls over flooding – the bulk from the March area.
The spokesman said: “It’s not just the crews on the ground that has been busy with flooding.
“Our staff up in Combined Fire Control took 277 999 calls about flooding in Cambridgeshire between 12.45pm yesterday and 8.30am today.
“Hats off to their superb call handling!”
The fire service has also posted their own photos of some of their crews in action during yesterday’s flooding.
It included a cottage in Doddington as well as many streets in March which were under way.
