Garfield the Sainsbury’s cat will be guest of honour at a show and re homing day coming to Little Downham.

The much loved moggie will be ready to meet and greet visitors to the 24th Cat show and Cats Protection homing Day at Little Downham Village Hall on Saturday March 10.

A charity spokesman said: “We are very excited to announce that Mr Sainsburys aka Garfield is our cat of honour again this year at the show. “Garfield is the local celebrity cat in Ely who spends a lot of time in the Sainsburys store.”

The event is open from 10.30am to 2.30pm at the village hall in Main Street.

Animal lovers are invited to enter their pet cat in the competition and meet cats looking for forever homes.

There will be a stall, tombola, bric-a-brac and refreshments.

Entry is £1 per adult to help raise money for Cats Protection funds.
