Georges in March is doing its bit for Children in Need with a 48 hour charity cycle.

The endurance challenge started on a stationary bike outside the pub on Friday at 5pm.

It is part of four days of fundraising on behalf of the charity at the pub, with Pudsey themed events which include a karaoke night, pyjama party, zumba class, retro disco and a quiz.

Nigel Marsh, Georges’ landlord, spent the early hours of Saturday morning on the bike.

He said: “There should be around 20 people getting on the bike during the 48 hours.

“I did the overnight shift and I actually enjoyed it.

“It was theraputic and it motivates you when you are pedalling for a good cause.”

Nigel has been surprised and thrilled by the response of the people of March.

“We have been struck by the generosity of the folk. People have been driving by, hooting and throwing £20 notes into the bucket.

“We know, with the way the economy is at the moment, money is tight so anything we get is appreciated.”
