A teenage army cadet jumped thousands of feet out of a plane to raise money for charity.

Staff Sargent Kiera Doncaster, from the March Detachment Army Cadet Force, completed a charity tandem parachute jump for the Household Cavalry Foundation.

Kiera 16, jumped 15,500 ft with a free fall of one minute, at a speed of 125 mph.

She said: “It was the most amazing thing I have ever done and can’t wait to do it again.”

Kiera, who hopes to have a career in the armed forces, raised £650 and travelled to London to hand the money over to the regiment.

The officer who received the cheque was the great grandson of Winston Churchill.

The Household Cavalry Foundation (HCF) was set up in January 2013.

It provides charitable and pastoral support to cavalry. serving soldiers, casualties and veterans.

The Foundation also supports the welfare of retired horses as well as maintaining the rich heritage of the cavalry.
