A NEW children’s home that will provide a safe refuge for four youngsters was officially opened by the Mayor of March, Councillor Bernard Keane.

The property in Burrowmoor Road at March - run by the Norfolk based charity Break - hopes to welcome its first residents, aged between eight and 18, within the next month.

Manager Rocky Mayes said: “The premises are fantastic, and everything is in place. We are really enthusiastic, and looking forward to getting everything underway.”

The opening ceremony last Wednesday was also attended by the Mayoress, Sylvia Keane, along with representatives of Cambridgeshire Children’s Services, and local councillors,

This is the seventh home in East Anglia provided by Break, the charity says the re-furbished property will provide care and stability to the young residents who have had multiple placement breakdowns in the past.

Hilary Richards, Break’s Director of Care Services said, “Break is committed to developing services to meet the need of local communities in East Anglia. I am delighted that Break has been able to open a Children’s Home in March.”
