A MOTHER and her 14-year-old son screamed for help as they were assaulted in their car in a Wimblington street.

The 55-year-old woman and her son were travelling through the village on the A141 at about 8pm on Thursday.

They overtook a grey Ford Fiesta and, when they had to slow down for temporary road speed limits, the Fiesta began driving close behind them with flashing lights.

The people inside the car, two men and a woman, began trying to get out and confront the victims in slow traffic.

At the junction of Wisbech Road and Isle of Ely Way the traffic came to a stop. The woman got out of the car, started shouting at the mother and assaulted her through the car window.

One of the men also began shouting and assaulted the boy while his mother screamed for help. The other man banged on the car’s bonnet.

Both victims suffered minor injuries and were left very shaken. The offenders drove off towards Tesco, in Hostmoor Avenue.

The woman attacker is described as white, in her mid 20s, of large build, 5’5” and with dark brown hair. The first man is described as white, in his mid 20s, slim, 5’8” and wore a grey hooded top and grey tracksuit bottoms. The second was white and of large build.

DC James Bennett, investigating, said: “This was a terrifying ordeal for the victims and I am keen to identify all the people who were in the grey Fiesta.

“We know there were people around at the time who would have seen what was happening and I would urge them to get in touch.”

Anyone with information should contact DC Bennett on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
