A carefully crafted sand sculpture of a dog and its two puppies has sprung up outside a shoe shop in March this afternoon.
Romanian artist Nelu Poila, 25, who recently arrived in the country and has settled in Wisbech, turned up in March at lunchtime.
He made himself at home outside Clarks, Broad Street, and asked for permission to get to work.
The sculpture has created a stir, with lots of passers-by stopping to admire Mr Poila’s handiwork.
Betty Garrad said: “It is beautiful. I’ve seen sand sculptures when I’ve visited Spain but never before in March.”
Sue Rogers, of Clarks, said: “He came into the shop to ask for permission to get to work.
“I think the sculpture is great. I wish I could produce something like that.
“A lot of people have stopped to have a look at it. It’s making people smile.”
