A COUPLE want to build this ‘groundbreaking’ home on the outskirts of an East Cambs village...but what do planners say?
Barry and Maurine Woodbine, who have lived in Wentworth for more than 30 years, are looking to downsize from their home in Main Street into a purpose-built retirement home.
Architects came up with “innovative” plans to help devise a home to cater for limited mobility.
When the plans were submitted to East Cambridgeshire District Council, agents described the design as “truly outstanding”, adding that Channel 4’s popular series Grand Designs had expressed an interest in following its development.
The home is designed to be almost entirely self-sufficient for energy, with the estimated annual bill just £60.
