Kingsfield Primary School in Chatteris will hold a free exhibition of historic photos next weekend.

Organised in conjunction with Chatteris Museum, the exhibition was prompted by the discovery of hundreds of old photos belonging to former headmaster, Dennis Hall.

Around 20 albums, all in perfect condition, were discovered by staff, illustrating the old King Edward School – now Chatteris Community Centre.

The exhibition will showcase images of old classes, sports teams and the old Burnsfield and King Edward sites, with dates ranging from the 1950s through to the 1990s.

“It was wonderful to find decades of memories from our school,” said headteacher of Kingsfield, Joanne Tomlins.

“Initially we spent some time identifying current staff and some of our parents as children here, and then realised what a wonderful experience this was, to sit together and discuss stories of how things used to be before.

“The staff and I decided it would be a fantastic opportunity to open our doors to the local community.

“We’re really looking forward to holding an event where former teachers, support staff and pupils can visit the school, share memories and stories, and experience Kingsfield as it is now.”

The exhibition, which is free to enter, takes place on Friday 22 from 2.30pm until 6pm and on Saturday 23 from 10.30am to 4pm.
