Mr Thomas, of Guyhirn, took first prize for best post-war commercial vehicle at the Historic Commercial Vehicle Society’s London to Brighton rally.

His vehicle, a 1952 Maudslay Majestic, was rebuilt by Mr Thomas over several years. Its first outing was at Wisbech’s historic vehicle run last August.

That success was followed up with victory for his 1975 Volvo F88 at Truckfest in Peterborough, in the category for post-1965 lorries.

It was the first time Mr Thomas took the lorry to a show following an eight-year rebuild.

Mr Thomas’ family operated the haulage firm Ken Thomas Ltd before it was sold. He still owns several of the firm’s classic lorries.
