A WISBECH student got to live out every English rugby supporter’s fantasy when he walked out in front of 82,000 people at Twickenham on Sunday.
Jordan Ashman was chosen to parade Thomas Clarkson Academy new rugby shirt, which was designed by the college’s students, ahead of England’s RBS 6 Nations game with Italy.
The Wisbech college was one of 100 schools from across England which took part in the Canterbury kit design workshops last year, as part of the RFU’s All Schools programme.
The students drawings were turned into bespoke final designs by Canterbury and the shirts were presented for the first time by England prop Alex Corbisiero and England women’s hooker Amy Turner.
Stuart Lancaster, England Head Coach said: “The match shirt is a source of huge pride for the players. When they are presented with it before an international it is a very special moment for them and the whole squad.
“By teaching these pupils who are new to the game the core values of rugby union and the history of the shirt, I’m sure that these school teams will share the same passion for their own design.”
