The former rugby club of a Whittlesey man who was killed in a collision on Tuesday (August 2) has paid tribute to him.

Mark Collin, of Stonald Avenue, died at the scene when his vehicle, a green Nissan Primera, was involved in a collision with a black Audi S3.

Mark was a keen rugby player, and played for Thorney before moving to Peterborough RUFC two years ago.

And today Thorney RUFC secretary, Simon Deplancke, paid tribute to the 51-year-old on the club’s website in a statement titled ‘A sad loss to local rugby.’

He said: “Mark was a valued club member at Thorney for many years, captaining both the second team and the Old Monks until joining Peterborough.

“His character and spirit on and off the field will be missed by both clubs and all the other clubs he represented over the years when they were in need.

“The club and committee would like to pass on their thoughts to Mark’s wife and children.

“Rest in peace, Mark. You will be missed by all those lucky enough to know you.”
