A 40 year-old man died after falling from his moped near Chatteris today.

The crash happened at about 2am in Doddington Road, just before the 40mph speed restrictions, as the 125cc silver moped travelled towards Chatteris.

The road was closed for four hours following the collision.

Police would like to speak to anyone who saw the crash or the moped just prior.

Anyone with information should call PC Tim Kirkby in the roads policing unit on 101.

Magpas Helimedix arrived at the scene at 2.46am via the Magpas Rapid Response BMW.

A spokesman said: “The Magpas team worked alongside an EEAST Ambulance Crew to provide advanced life support and enhanced A&E level care.

“Sadly, despite all their best efforts, the patient was pronounced dead at the scene. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.”
