The life and racing career of the late Sir Henry Cecil will be celebrated over five days next month on The Rowley Mile at Newmarket Racecourses.

During the QIPCO Guineas Festival from May 3-4 and the three-day Spring Meeting from May 15-17, an exhibition of photographs and personal artefacts from Sir Henry Cecil’s home at Warren Place will be on display in front of the Millennium Grandstand.

Included in the exhibition is the medal presented to Sir Henry when he was knighted by The Queen.

A collection of photos depicting Sir Henry’s life from early childhood to the end of his career has been put together by his widow Lady Cecil.

Some of the trophies he won in his 44 years as a front-line trainer, during which time he won ten trainers’ championships and 25 British Classics, will also be on display.

Amy Starkey, regional director east of Jockey Club Racecourses, said: “Sir Henry was loved by everyone who visited Newmarket Racecourses. There was a shared affection between Sir Henry and the racecourse.

“After the initial exhibition at Ascot last year, we thought our visitors would really appreciate it if we held our own tribute where they once again can share the life and the times of the late and great Sir Henry Cecil.”
