CHARITY trekker Alice Goose has been given a fund-raising boost by the kind-hearted youngsters at her former school.
The 28-year-old is set to hike 26 miles of the Inca Trail in Peru this month, alongside fellow Fenland youth workers Laura Burgess and Vicki Wright.
The trio have had to raise thousands of pounds to take part in the charity challenge for Macmillan Cancer Support.
But Alice’s fundraising was given a major boost on Monday, when pupils at Magdalene House, the preparatory school of Wisbech Grammar School, presented her with a cheque for £500.
Alice said: “It is a very worthwhile charity and the adventure also provides a personal physical challenge.
“I am very grateful to the children, parents and teachers for what they have done to contribute to raising the £500.”
Most of the money was raised in collections during the grammar school’s performances of spoof musical ‘Pirates of the Curry Bean’.
Alice, Vicki and Laura will begin their hiking challenge next week. They can still be sponsored via their fundraising websites: www.justgiving.com/vicki-wright www.justgiving.com/Alice-Goose www.justgiving.com/Laura-Burgess3
