FIREFIGHTERS had to cut a woman out of her car this morning after a three-vehicle crash in Whittlesey.

Emergency services arrived at the incident, in Eastrea Road, at about 5.40am to find the car had plunged into a ditch.

The driver, a woman thought to be in her 50s, was trapped and had to be freed using specialist cutting equipment.

A police spokesman said two other cars were involved and a “large quantity of oil had spilled across the road”.

Two people were taken to hospital but their injuries are not believed to be serious.

Two fire crews and the rescue vehicle from Dogsthorpe were called to the collision. They returned to their stations by 7.35am.

The road was closed while the vehicles were recovered and the oil-spill was cleared. It reopened at 8.25am.
