Children from Lilliput Pre-School say thank you.

A FENLAND pre-school was left homeless when the planning application for its new base was turned down - but a scout group came to the rescue.

Lilliput Pre-School’s application to relocate to Alderman Jacobs Primary School, in Whittlesey, was turned down just before the start of term.

Desperate for the youngsters to have somewhere to go while the plans were re-submitted, owner Debbie Latham and her team found the solution in the town’s scout hut.

Whittlesey Scouts and Guides offered to share their home, in Inham’s Road, with the children while the planning issues were resolved.

Amanda Hibbert, from the pre-school, said: “The children are thoroughly enjoying making the most of their temporary home.

“If you see them out and about in town or in the park be sure to give them a wave, or listen out for them singing loudly in the hut!”

Lilliput Pre-School, which has been based in Whittlesey for 28 years, had been renting accommodation from Kidzone at the Alderman Jacobs site since moving from the Manor Leisure Centre 12 years ago.

They plan to re-open at the primary school in a new independent home in January 2013.

Ms Hibbert said: “We will have a big party to say thank you to all those who have helped and families past, present and future.”
