Nominations are being sought for hospital staff who went the extra mile to care for loved ones.

The 2014 Papworth People Annual Staff Achievement Awards, sponsored by ISS Services, will honour both teams and individuals in categories that include Caring for Patients, Achieving Excellence, Innovation and the Chairman’s Award for Outstanding Achievement.

Nominees can come from any Papworth Hospital department - they may be a nurse, porter, consultant or selfless volunteer.

Elizabeth Horne, director of human relations, said: “Our patients are at the centre of everything we do and this is reflected in the dedication of our staff from every department within the hospital.

“We are proud of our reputation as one of the best performing heart and lung hospitals in the UK, which is largely thanks to our staff and the Papworth People Staff Achievement Awards is an excellent way to publicly thank them for their hard work and commitment.”

Members of the Patient and Public Involvement and Membership Committee (PPIM) will judge the awards and nominees will be invited to a special awards ceremony, which is part of the hospital’s Annual Members’ Meeting and Papworth Insight event, on September 11.

More than 2,400 major heart operations are carried out at Papworth Hospital each year.
