On a beautifully crisp and sunny Sunday morning Fenland runner Sarah Gauvin and her six year old son Henry Pittock competed in the Shouldham XC hosted by Ryston Runners AC.

Henry raced 800m in the under 9s category in 3 minutes and 42 seconds coming 15th in a field of 29 boys.

With the temperature just above freezing plus a hilly course, it provided an excellent challenge for the 136 runners.

Ian finished 36th in a time of 24:04 and 5th in his age category, whilst Sally finished 129th completing her 116th Parkrun.

The next challenge for the pair plus many other members of Fenland RC is the Cambridge Half Marathon on Sunday March 4.

As Shouldham and Bakewell came to a close Jac Richards had just reached the top of the hill at the Brighton Half Marathon.

A breezy cold start to the day the 13.1 mile course starts with an initial three mile uphill and then follows the gorgeous downhill southern coastline.

Jac Richards finished in 2:02:25 and was 4,032 out of a total field of 7,827.

While Jac was heading home Karl Baxter had a further seven miles to complete Saint Edmund Pacers Tarpley 20 miler.

The course passes through beautiful countryside around Bury St Edmunds and is run along gently undulating country lanes. Karl finished 111th in 2:39:44 and was 17th in his age category.
