FACES etched with concentration, Fenland Running Club’s Ann Trett, left, and Lucy Chessor approach the fourth mile of a memorable Fen10 race on Sunday.

Hosts FRC excelled at the annual 10-mile challenge and it was the ladies that led the way.

Chessor (1:07.53), Trett (1:10.20) and Nicole Coughlin (1:10.17) combined to win the ladies’ team prize - awarded to the club which is first to have three of its ladies cross the finish line.

Shane Draper (1:03.41) was the first man home for FRC, while David Brammer and Sarah Rippon also conquered the course.

Nine members of March Athletic Club and 11 members of Thorney Running Club also took their places in the field of 213 runners.

Eamonn Dorling won the Vet 55 category by leading home Thorney’s stars, with several club members smashing their personal bests in the challenging conditions.

Melissa Neal (1:02.00) was first home for March AC as she picked up second place in the ladies’ section, while Frances Cooke (1:18.09) triumphed in the Vet 55 category.

Simon Oldfield (1:05.54) beat team-mate Jason Perring (1:05.56) by just two seconds to finish as March AC’s first man home.

The Fen10 was won by Scott Aaron (51.54), of Nottinghamshire Athletic Club.
