Twenty-eight anglers took part in the annual Craig Kent Memorial fishing match, which was held at a sun drenched Kingsland Reservoir near Coates,

Kent died aged 49 in March 2008 from cancer so his friends decided on a drawn pairs fishing match in his memory to run annually, with monies raised to be donated to different local charities.

This year’s was the seventh running of the match, with the amount raised passing through the £2,000 barrier.

The winning pair were Ian Darrington and Paul Yardy. Second were Clive Turner and Steve Marsh, with Des Proud and Chris Smith in third.

As well as the fishing, a raffle was held which was sponsored by ukmatchangler.com and Cassanos of March.

Organiser Pat North said: “Craig was held in such regard one chap cancelled his summer holiday to make it.

“The anglers were treated to sausage rolls and cake at their pegs by raffle organisers Trudy and Sandra while Tony and Charlie done a magnificent job in their role of stewards.

“A special thanks must go to Richard and Theresa of Kingsland for all their help and generosity on the day. A great day was had by all.”
