Doddington United boss Taylor aiming for back to back promotions

Ambitious Doddington United manager Ashley Taylor has his sights set on back to back promotions.
In their first season in management, Taylor and childhood friend Oliver Salter Boyden led the side to promotion from Cambs NMC 1B.
Now, Salter-Boyden has decided to focus on the reserves, so Taylor has the hotseat to himself.
To help them cope with the step up, Doddington have brought in four players from Chatteris Town - Andy Moye, Dean Saunders, Ashley’s brother Jamie Taylor and Tony Brown.
Pre-season results have been encouraging - they thumped Wimblington 6-0 and picked up 3-1 and 3-2 wins at Chatteris and Somersham, with the one blip being a 1-0 loss at Ely City Reserves.
Taylor said: “We know we are going into a bigger and stronger league so we have got together a bigger and stronger squad. We believe a strong reverse side is important so Oliver has stepped down to focus on that, which will make the whole club stronger.
“We have looked really good in pre-season, picking up wins against two Cambs Senior A sides (Chatteris and Somersham).”
Taylor expects a harder game when they travel to Wimblington, who they thumped in pre-season, in their league opener on Wednedsay.
He said: “We know it’s going to be different to the friendly. They are a hard working team and we expect a tougher game. “Our first four games are all away from home. If we can pick up three wins, it would be a very good start.”
Taylor is confident his side will be challenging for the title.
He said: “The goal is back to back promotions. With the players we’ve got we should definitely compete in this league.”
