Six members of last season’s under 18 side played in Saturday’s emphatic 4-0 win over Comberton United at West Street.
The Lilacs are third in Cambs Senior A with six points from three games - their only setback was a 2-1 home loss to Hundon last Wednesday.
Chatteris dominated the first half but had to wait until the 42nd minute to break the deadlock.
Josh Joyce’s free kick was headed back across the face of goal by Simon Howard and Ross Alexander tapped in from close range.
They doubled their lead one minute after half time - Joyce, who caused havoc with his pinpoint free kicks, swung a perfect delivery into the box and Howard headed home.
Five minutes later, Alexander got his second and Chatteris’ third goal. His strike partner Shaun Simpson was the architect, harrying the Comberton goalkeeper into making a mistake.
Alexander dispossessed the keeper and stroked the ball into an unguarded net.
The striker sealed his hat trick on 78 minutes with a stunning free kick from 20 yards into the top corner.
Joint manager Lester Kent said: “We are a very young side. Six players were in the under-18s last year. They are very enthusiastic, keen and bubbly.
“They get down to the ground before the time they are meant to report to have a game.
“Since they are so young they will get physically stronger. We should have got a point against Hundon but they muscled us out.
“It’s very early days but things are quite promising and we are trying to play the right way, passing the ball.
“The club was in a bit of a muddle last year but we are on our way. There will be ups and downs but we will be good to watch.”
