GALLERY: Wisbech St Mary hope run of home games can be springboard for late season surge up the table

Wisbech St Mary captain Chris Gunkel hopes his side can take advantage of a run of home games to climb up the table.
They are 10th in the Cambs Premier League but, following Saturday’s game at bogey side Cottenham United, they have three straight home games.
In their last league outing, the club drew 0-0 at home to Cambridge City Reserves in what was their first home game after 13 away matches in a row.
Gunkel said: “The Cambs FA fixture computer always seems to give us a massive run of home games to start the season then a big batch of away games, which have been challenging because when things are not going well players can lose interest.
“With our games in hand and a run of home games coming up we want to at least match last season’s finish.”
It has been an up and down season for Wisbech St Mary - they followed a run of four straight losses with a shock 1-0 win at leaders Foxton two weeks ago.
Gunkel said: “In many ways before the Foxton game was our lowest point of the season because we travelled there with only 11 players and our kit only turned up five minutes before the game.
“But we someone nicked a last minute 1-0 win, with a 16 year-old debutant grabbing the winner in his first game.
“We would have liked to build on the win with three points against Cambridge but we kept another clean sheet, which is encouraging.”
Wisbech St Mary will be out for revenge when they take on Cottenham - they were thrashed 6-1 when the two sides met in the cup earlier this season.
