Wisbech Town held fans’ forum last Saturday following their promotion success.
Club chairman Paul Brenchley opened the event at the Elgoods Fenland Stadium which was attended by around 70 supporters.
The Fenmen finished as runners-up in the United Counties League Premier Division last season to earn a rise to Step 4 football. They will play in the Northern Premier League East Division next term.
Brenchley said: “We need to look at all aspects of the club - especially the finances.”
It was decided that the price of admission to home games should be raised to £9 per game and £6 for concessions which is in line or still cheaper than other local clubs who are playing at the same level.
Brenchley hopes to be able to announce in the next few weeks a commercial manager who will be tasked to bring in more revenue. The club also needs more help on both match days but also behind the scenes.
“I will be actively looking to bring in new people. We will definitely need a bus to get the players to games with much more travelling,” Brenchley added.
Manager Gary Setchell also adressed supporters at the forum. He expects to retain the nucleus of the squad which earned promotion.
He added that some players will fall short and some will excel at the higher level and then it’ll be time to look at new players.
“We simply can’t afford to go and get the best players in the league,” he said. “I don’t want to be third or fourth bottom playing in front of 100 people.
“I want to keep pushing for a play-off spot for as long as possible. That would mean having the best season that we have had for many years.
“We will work as hard as we can and so will the players.”
