Steve Seymour, who played for March in the 2008/09 seasons, helped his Australian state side Victoria II to a shock 23-run victory over the tourists, who are preparing for an international triangular series with Australia and India.

The pace bowler took 5-52 from his 10 overs – claiming the prize scalp of world-class wicket-keeper batsman Kumar Sangakkara in the process.

Victoria had earlier struggled to 172-9 from their 50 overs, with Seymour contributing seven runs.

But the all-rounder soon turned the game on its head, blowing away the Sri Lankan top order as they crumbled to 149 all out.

The young star’s performance caught the attention of Australian all-rounder David Hussey, who said on Twitter: “There will definitely be a domestic team interested in the red hot @SteveSeymour now! The kid is on fire & can play.”
