GIRL power reigned in Fenland on Saturday as both Wisbech and March Ladies gained emphatic 3-1 victories.
Buoyed by last week’s win over rivals King’s Lynn Pelicans, Wisbech made short work of visitors Watton.
Having missed a penalty flick in a scoreless first half, Verity Allen’s side finally took the lead after the break thanks to a classic team goal.
Lisa Williamson put the finishing touch on a sweeping move - and she had to wait just a matter of minutes for another. The hotshot ended up in the back of the net with the ball after her determination saw her grab her second of the day.
Watton hit back through a short corner but the hosts sealed the points when Hannah Strickle slotted the ball calmly past the keeper for her third goal of the season.
Leanne Williamson was player of the match for Wisbech, who host struggling Ipswich III on Saturday.
Meanwhile, March Ladies continued their fine form in Cambs Division Two with a 3-1 victory over leaders and title rivals Huntingdon II.
Hosts March, who sit second in the league, thought they had taken the lead when Libby Wallis deflected home Bekki Bell’s flick - but the goal was disallowed as the ball was too high.
The home side did gain the advantage after 20 minutes when Bell finished a neat move and, minutes later, she grabbed her second to give March a cushion.
Keeper Freya Coleman pulled off a string of fine saves to repel Huntingdon’s onslaught after the break, but the visitors did get one back.
As the visitors pressed for an equaliser, March hit them on the counter attack and Hannah Odlin slotted home to wrap up a precious victory.
Megan Fey was player of the match.
