Hares boss Brett Whaley is poised to pull off a transfer coup tonight after Butcher was released from his contract at Evo-Stik Division One South Ilkeston yesterday.

The 20-year-old has verbally agreed to join March on a “week-to-week” basis and will replace Lewis Moat who has been “temporarily” recalled by parent club Peterborough Northern Star.

Whaley said: “Aaron’s a great ‘keeper and to get someone in from a side who plays two levels above us, even if it’s only for a few games, is fantastic.

“The loan deal with Lewis is not dead because he’s been excellent so we’ll have a brilliant ‘keeper either way in the coming weeks.”

March, sixth in the Ridgeons First Division, beat struggling Ipswich 4-0 away in the corresponding league fixture in September.

Elsewhere, chairman Phil White has taken charge of the club’s reserve team for the third time.

The winless Hares second-string - who travel to Buckden tomorrow - remain rooted to the bottom of the Cambs BIS League Division 1B.

White led the side to their first Cambs Junior Challenge Cup title last season.
