Ely Tigers displayed a solid performance at home against Crusaders.

The Tigers were a different team in the first half compared to last week. The flowing rugby meant they would cross the white wash early on.

Ever-present Luke Turner scored a characteristic try after the ball was shipped wide. Joel Scott Paul added another converted try of a similar vein moments later.

The opposition kicked off and the Tigers made their way into the opposition half. Mitchell Kennett broke through and offloaded to Jacob Muncey who dotted down for a converted try.

Before the end of the half Scott Macfarlane rounded up the scoring with a pick and drive from the back of a ruck, Scott Paul added the arrears.

In the second half Ely spent most of it camped on the opposition try line but were unable to convert the possession into points as the Crusaders upped their defensive game.

A score finally came when man of the match Alex Milne chipped the ball through and caught it on the bounce. He offloaded the ball to Charlie Coupland who finished off the move with a try under the posts. The opposition began to rally and fought back, Ely conceded a penalty and they kicked for the corner.

A rolling maul was formed from the resulting lineout and Crusaders just about made it over the line. Ely added the finishing blow when Matt McCarthy touched down in the corner.
